Use **Download file** to save an http(s) file to Chrome Downloads. Type a URL or insert a [Values](/steps/values) name as `{{name}}`. [Save value](/steps/save-value) can read a link address first.

The runner waits until Chrome finishes the download. Interrupted or timed-out downloads fail this step. Optional folder override uses the same Downloads subfolder rules as [Take a Screenshot](/steps/take-a-screenshot). The file is not stored in Activity or Values.

## How to add it

**Add Step** → **Download file**. Enter an http(s) URL. Leave the folder empty to use Settings. **Test download** uses the same path.
