Use Download file to save an http(s) file to Chrome Downloads. Type a URL or insert a Values name as {{name}}. Save value can read a link address first.
The runner waits until Chrome finishes the download. Interrupted or timed-out downloads fail this step. Optional folder override uses the same Downloads subfolder rules as Take a Screenshot. The file is not stored in Activity or Values.
How to add it
Add Step → Download file. Enter an http(s) URL. Leave the folder empty to use Settings. Test download uses the same path.
Not this step
Does not photograph the tab — that is Take a Screenshot. Does not open the URL in the tab — that is Go To Web Page. Is not a custom HTTP step or webhook. Destinations for alerts are Send Alert.
